Painting of the same name

This is the painting that inspired the name of this blog. Several years ago pondering what to paint I began a doodle that turned into a watercolor. This soon became the inspiration for an embroidered vest. Finally I decided to use acrylics and the result was this 20x24 in (including frame) painting. I consider myself a mythographer, one who collects myth. I have many books and scraps of paper that I write interesting old songs, stories and myths on.
Now lets talk about that frame - My husband and I designed it, and then he cut out the wood and assembled it for me to paint. He is a talented artist in his own right, and if you visit the site again you are bound to see many more beautiful frames he has crafted.

solo blog

Took a couple of photos of a pair of acrylic paintings this morning to share. Not inspired by one particular myth, but rather inspired by my fascination with monoliths. (the large ancient man made rock formations) They are titled Stone Spirits in purple (male - female) and were completed last winter. My first ever attempt at using purple as a main tone. Neither has been exhibited in public, so I hope you enjoy them. - leave a comment so I know someone is out there!

getting started (i don't know what i'm doing!)

This blog and some other software is a gift from my daughter, but mostly the help to learn to use it! Lots of patience is required for teaching the computer challenged. In the future there will be many pictures of my paintings (if I can learn to use this) This picture shows me explaining a work in progress, if you don't have time never ask me about my paintings, a finished picture will be added soon. Posted by Picasa
