Smoke Screen

Within all myths are small bits of truth, that is what makes them interesting. Some myths endure and become beliefs. These can become muddied with man's imposed values.

Inspired by my belief that greed is destroying everything man has tried to achieve, even our beliefs.

Inspired by the Edgar Allen Poe poem of the same name, this 18x24 Acrylic on canvas panel is my vision of the lonely words of the poem. I textured the piece with applied tissue, and painted rather heavy, for me that is. It was rather liberating to slash about the swirls of ocean and hair. Quite carried away with myself actually, there are surely several layers obscured!
