Two more flower girls

I have finished a couple more in my series of flower girls   'Violet'  and  'Holly'.  Each created to reflect the blooms they are named for, these women are painted on llx14 canvases.  Sort of a continuation of my things on people's heads or around their faces.  If you check the archives you can see 'Lily'  in January of 2006, she started it all.  Then there are 'Rose' in June  and   'Iris' in September of 2012.  I have sketches and ideas for a Daisy, let's hope she dosen't take years to make her appearance.

This little 8x10 landscape is the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls.  If you are local to western Massachusetts it is a beautiful place to spend a day.  Down below the falls there are the 'devil's pock marks' which are holes the water wore in the rocks. 

Faraway Field

This Celtic Knot enclosed field of flowers is painted in acrylic on an 11x14 stretched canvas.  It could be any where, it came straight from my imagination.  I first painted a multi colored back ground and added the knot.  Not sure of what would live within it, I began painting the flowers around the boarder.  Once that was done I sat back and imagined what would fit within.

'Iris'

She has been finished for a couple of months, but I just got around to photos.  This 10 inch square acrylic is part of the continuing series of 'flower girls'.  Painted around the edges, which are 1 inch.  She has more in common with Lily than Rose, tucked into this field.  Although, if you recall Lily, there is no landscape, so it is a bit more of a portrait.  I have begun work on Holly, which should be done in time for the holidays, and  therefore fit right in.

This is Rose

She is finally finished, I began sketching ideas for this one shortly after Lily was framed, several years ago.  If you haven't seen Lily she is in the archives under January, the one with (7) posts.  Rose is done in acrylic, and is 16x20.  I can't decide which way she should be orientated.



To me it seems to change the feeling of the painting just holding it in a different position.  Are the fading roses opressing her, or maybe it's the other way round?  Perhaps I'll get my husband to make a frame on a turn table so I can change it to suit my mood. 

Gardening

This 3D acrylic is 22x34, and has actual gardening tools attached to the board with a paper mache technique. I have fun creating sculpture like paintings, and like painting over the forms as if they were not there, creating interesting effects. This one is unframed, I am hoping one will be made soon.
